Look, we're not gonna pretend we're some stuffy old accounting firm that's been around since 1952. Mystral Chronicle started in 2019 when a bunch of us got tired of watching small businesses drown in spreadsheets and shoeboxes full of receipts.
We're a Vancouver-based crew who realized that accounting doesn't have to feel like a root canal. With cloud tech finally catching up to what businesses actually need, we jumped in headfirst. Now we help companies across BC keep their books clean without the headaches.
The "Chronicle" part? That's 'cause we see ourselves as the folks documenting your financial journey - the ups, the downs, and everything in between. We're here for the long haul.
From startup to your trusted financial partner
Started with just three of us and a dream to make bookkeeping less painful. Operated out of a cramped shared office space on Hastings Street. Had maybe 12 clients, all referrals from friends who needed help with their taxes.
COVID hit and honestly? Best thing that could've happened for our business model. Everyone suddenly needed cloud solutions. We pivoted hard, got our QuickBooks certifications sorted, and helped dozens of businesses move their books online while they figured out remote work.
Moved into our current spot on West Pender. Brought on four more team members. Started specializing in tech startups and e-commerce businesses - turns out we're pretty good at helping companies that operate mostly online. Got our CRA registration upgraded too.
Added payroll management and business advisory services. Started hosting monthly workshops for small business owners. Hit 150+ active clients and we're still growing. Built out our automated reporting systems so clients can see their numbers in real-time.
We're now a team of 11, serving businesses across British Columbia. Launched our client portal that makes tax season way less stressful. Still learning, still growing, and still committed to making accounting something you don't dread.
The people who actually do the work
Founder & Managing Partner
Started Mystral after spending 8 years at a big firm where she realized most small businesses were getting ignored. Now she spends her days building systems that actually make sense and drinking way too much coffee. Got her CPA in 2014 and hasn't looked back.
Senior Bookkeeping Specialist
Marcus joined us in 2020 and immediately became the QuickBooks guru. He's the guy who can untangle literally any mess you throw at him. Former small business owner himself, so he gets what you're dealing with. Certified in basically every cloud accounting platform out there.
Tax & Compliance Director
Priya handles everything CRA-related so you don't have to. She's saved more than a few clients from audit nightmares. Previously worked in corporate tax but switched to working with smaller businesses because, in her words, "the work actually matters here." She's also weirdly good at explaining GST/HST stuff.
Payroll & Advisory Manager
Jamie came on board in 2023 to build out our payroll services. They're the person who makes sure everyone gets paid on time and that all those CRA remittances happen without drama. Also does strategic planning sessions with clients - turns out having an MBA and actual empathy is a rare combo.
